Hello lovelies !
Happy Weekend ! I hope you all had wonderful weeks, I know that I sure had a productive one ! As I am sure you have been able to tell as you’re reading this, I had a blog redesign over this past week. I am so excited to share it with you ! I have been toying with my last template for a while now but it just wasn’t what I wanted so while I was looking into new templates (shout out to A Glass Of Ice for recommending Pipdig in her post recently as that is where this new template comes from ! Not only did I get a new template though, I finally switched to WordPress ( hears angels singing); I had been putting it off for so long now, not sure how it would be but honestly I am SO glad that I switched ! Pipdig has a migration service that I used for this as it would take way to much time and energy to figure out how to convert everything over and it was seriously the best thing ever. It only took about 3 days for everything to be completed, so quick right ! Of course there was a little set up required once it was switched over but doing the migration service honestly helped me so, so much and I am so happy that they have this service available (seriously, if you are thinking of switching, use it). Thank you Pipdig !
Now that that is out of the way ( side note: does anyone else hate writing that that !? or is it just me ) we can get onto talking about this look, which is one of my favourites thus far that we shot a few days ago in a forest nearby. Actually you may remember this exact spot from this post last year. The day we shot these photos was gorgeous, it was very warm for a winter day and it was actually very sunny (which is why we went to take photos in the shaded forest haha) a perfect day for this look which left my legs a little bare.
This season I have been obsessed with a few things: faux fur coats, slip dresses and over the knee boots (even though I haven’t actually purchased any yet) which is why this outfit is one of my favourites so far this season ! I combined each of these things (I mean these boots aren’t technically but it still gives the look I’m going for) which go together so wonderfully, it was like they were made for each other. The jacket and slip dress are new editions this season – I had been looking for the perfect pieces and both of these are just that.
You may have seen this lovely Banana Republic faux fur jacket that is perfect for this cold winter weather in my What I Got For Christmas 2016 post that I got as gift from my mom. After looking in several stores and on various websites, this one caught my eye the most because of it’s lovely neutral shade, slightly cropped shape and huge fabulous lapels. The winter faux fur trend is always around but this year jackets have been more predominant than ever and this piece was the perfect one to add into my wardrobe. It adds such an element of glam to any simple look and is such an easy piece to style that is also super warm and cozy. I have worn it a ton and get compliments on it every time, if you want a conversation started piece I definitely suggest picking up this coat (which is also now on sale) ! Since I love this one so much I have been looking for different styles and coloured faux fur jackets to also add into my collection so if you have any recommendations please share below !
I had been eyeing up this Vivienne slip dress from Aritzia for a very long time now. Not in this colour specifically, actually at first I was looking at either black or white as they would be the most versatile, but just the dress in general. I could tell just by looking at it that it would be super flattering and just about the most perfect slip dress you could get on the market ( I looked at a lot once again and this one seemed to be the best quality/fit ).
While thinking about purchasing this dress again about two weeks ago I had noticed that some of the colours had gone on sale ! This was one of them, on the website it looked slightly more grey, just a note, but once it arrived I liked the colour even more anyways. I don’t own a lot of purple in my wardrobe ( I literally think maybe two pieces) and this dark eggplant colour is a stunning addition ! Anyways, I decided to just go for it and purchase this colour even if I didn’t actually like it in person just to see how the fit would be at the very least (I had never tried this dress on before) but as I said I was very happy with the colour once it arrived and I think it suits my colouring very well also. This dress is everything I hoped it would be, the fit is gorgeous and the material is stunning ; it is double layered with a super soft jersey underneath which makes it not only comfortable but also not see-through, which is the only thing I was worried about. I am now for sure adding the black and white into my wardrobe as I can already see this being a huge staple in my wardrobe ! Unfortunately this colour is now sold out, but I highly suggest picking up one of the others as it is perfect.
As I said, I still have yet to find the perfect OTK boots, but I am thinking nothing will compare to the Stuart Weitzman one’s and I may just have to splurge on them. These knee high boots I got from Forever21 a few years ago do the trick for the look I was going for though and add that little bit of extra warmth needed for winter as well. Whenever I wear any dresses or mini skirts, I just want to pair OTK boots with them because it is so streamlined and flattering on everyone. The thing I like about this particular pair is that the toe is slightly pointed but more of an elongated almond shape which makes my tiny legs look even longer than they are (always a plus).
As I wanted the outfit focus to of course be on the Faux Fur Coat, I kept accessories to a minimum so I wouldn’t look too over the top. My everyday Michael Kors bag went perfectly with the look adding a little bit of texture with the leather but still being simple and understated. I added my return to tiffany necklace for a little shine and I thought that the silver would be a nice contrast with the coat as well.
I am so happy with these new pieces and can not wait to wear them over and over again this season. More looks featuring both pieces will be coming soon (I have thought of at least 5 ways to style each that I would like to share) so stay tuned for those ! Also, if you have any suggestions of any Over the knee boots that are similar to the Stuart Weitzman ones that are good quality and comfortable please let me know, as well as any winter faux fur suggestions !
Thank you so much for reading darlings and I hope you enjoy the new look of my blog !
