Hello my lovely friends !
How crazy is it that there is exactly 10 sleeps until Christmas ? I am freaking out over here because I still have loads to do, but I am also extremely excited. There will be so many Christmasy things happening in the next two weeks so you can expect a lot more posts than usual as well ! To kick off this crazy week I am sharing with you one of the Holiday Looks I have put together for this year; I have a few, and I will be uploading those very soon as well. I love this one because it can be worn not specifically for the holiday season (although it works very well) but also throughout the rest of the year for any more formal event. It is neutral so you can mix and match plenty of pieces in to dress it up or down ( for example if you don’t have/like the look of a sequin blazer you can use a plain black one and it will be just a little more dressed down ) but for the holidays a little bit of glam is always a good thing !
I bought this dress in the summertime and wore it one time to a pool bar, it went perfectly with the setting and is practically why I bought it (any one else buy things like that haha ? ) but after that day I was thinking ” oh no when am I ever going to wear this again ” cue holiday parties. Although it is a very summery dress, by pairing it with black accessories it definitely makes it more appropriate for the season and wearable for any nighttime event. Usually midi dresses overwhelm me because I am so short but because you can see through the bottom half of the dress and you can still see my legs, it doesn’t make me look shorter than I am. I love that the dress it is longer though because it is pretty chesty, so it balances it out well by covering the legs up a little bit more. I also just love the effect it gives over the legs, it makes it a lot more unique and interesting I think.
I love the peplum detail on the dress as well, it adds a little more interest and dimension to what would otherwise be a simple bodycon dress. Also, this dress fits me perfectly, when I purchased it I was scared it would not fit – I had to go down a size because my usual was sold out so, but I loved it so much I took the chance and I am glad I did. It fits me so perfectly I can’t even fit a bra in haha but thankfully it has enough support that one is not needed anyways, and I can say it has stood the test of dancing around which says a lot.
To pair with the dress and make it holiday ready, I decided to add my sequin blazer that has been sitting in my closet forever but I never seem to wear. I am not sure why either because I do love it, the sequins aren’t too obnoxious and are pretty subtle and the shape of it is beautiful as well. I definitely want to start adding it to some things I already wear to make them a little more glamorous, but wearing it to a holiday party is a safe way to start. I decided to drape it over my shoulders so that you could see all of the details of the dress but it also looks beautiful on as well.
For shoes I just went with these banded black heels to match the horizontal stripes on the dress, I think that the contrast in color but same pattern gives it a cool unifying vibe to the look ( the wrapping of the present I brought along also does this which I didn’t notice until after haha ). For accessories I wanted to stick to simple easy pieces so I just wore my black clutch and Michael Kors watch for a little added pop of gold for interest.
I think this look is perfect for any holiday party from Christmas to New Years as well. I will be wearing it to one coming up actually ! I wanted to document it before I was actually going because for some reason I am always rushing before I go off to any event; I am really bad at time management apparently ! Are you guys doing anything exciting for the holiday season ? If you are going to any holiday parties you should share your looks so that I can get inspiration for some other parties I will be attending ! I have a few ideas but I always love some good inspiration.
I hope you all enjoyed this look and have a wonderful week ahead of you !
Thank you so much for reading <3
