Classic Summer Outfit

When it is super  hot and muggy out the last thing you want to do is put on clothes, am I right ? Well, I have found my solution to this and it is maxi dresses. I don’t think there is another article of clothing that is as breezy and beautiful as a good maxi…at least nothing that I can think of that screams summer the same way.

What I love about this particular maxi, is how easily it can be dressed up for nighttime or more special occasions but also how easy it is to wear it casually in the daytime.I think the thing that makes it the most versatile are the straps; because they are made of rope instead of classic black straps you would find on other black maxi dresses, it gives the dress a more summer-nautical vibe than it would have without them.

It is also very easily dressed up because of it’s simple and elegant color and style. During the day as you see here I have worn it with flat sandals… I have also worn it with wedges, but throw on some heels, extra accessories and an up-do and you are ready to go to a formal dinner party or even a wedding.

It is also a great layering piece and can pass for a maxi skirt by just throwing a shirt or sweater over it ! I have tried on my Aritzia sweaters with it and it looks amazing and boho-chic… I know I am going to get a LOT of wear out of it this summer.

I got this dress from Mendocino… it was actually the first time I had ever been in the store but my mom actually told me that they had lots of maxi dresses so we went on a hunt one day and I found this one (not sure of the exact name) for $55.00. As I said before I have just paired it with my Sam Edleman sandals, typical Tiffany jewelery and Aldo rings.

Here are the rings I wore as well as my dream catcher bracelet (that I am obsessed with) on my left hand, I didn’t get my other hand but I was wearing rings on that hand as well.

Selfie time ! Another shot of my beautiful bracelet as well as the straps on the dress.

As for my MOTD (Makeup of the day) I just wore my usual foundation with woodwinked eyeshadow (which is my classic go to summer shadow), black liner and lots of mascara ! I have not been wearing anything on my lips lately… I don’t know why I just feel like during the summer it is too much of a hassle, I’m just going through a phase I’m sure… I go back and forth between being obsessed with lipstick and lip gloss and wearing nothing very often.

Overall, if I could wear this dress everyday this summer I would… I know that I will be wearing it plenty so be prepared for more OOTD’s featuring this dress 🙂
