Light Grey Sweater Dress

Hello Darlings !

How crazy were the Oscars last night ! I was actually at an Oscar party with a bunch of my friends enjoying pizza, the stunning dresses and of course a bottle of wine. We were all sitting around thinking okay whatever LaLaLand won, and then boom Steve Harvey moment, all of our jaws were hanging open and we could hardly believe what we were seeing ! I was personally happy because I picked Moonlight for best picture so that meant one more point in the pool for me haha but wow, what a moment to have been watching ! I didn’t win, I ended up tying for 4th with two other people but I also wasn’t last so there’s that ! Overall it was a very entertaining event and I can’t wait to see how next year goes over that ( I think they will double check the envelopes next time haha ) ! Anyways, let’s get onto the outfit !

This of course is not an Oscar worthy outfit and I probably should have thought this through and put together an Oscar worthy look for this week’s post but of course I wasn’t thinking ! Instead I am sharing with you this super comfortable and casual look that I wore out to lunch with my love last week to the cutest little cafe called The Lazy Tulip here in Barrie ( photos from the cafe are over on my Instagram ). This day – and entire weekend actually was super warm, practically spring weather, and we were taking full advantage of it. I remember saying to Jay ” I am literally in a sweater dress and I am completely perfect ” that is how nice it was outside ! This outfit was perfect for the nice weather, the sweater dress is very light, not too warm but it does keep the chill out a little bit and the hat was keeping the sun out of my eyes. It also felt really nice being able to wear my most worn boots of the season (literally almost in every post, I am so sorry) without having to trek through snow and ice.

I picked up this super soft grey sweater dress a few weeks ago while browsing around in Topshop. It is actually supposed to be a sweater but I saw this one (being the tall version in the store) and it looked long enough to be a sweater dress on me (I am only 5’2) and as soon a I touched it I knew I had to have it… it’s the SOFTEST THING EVER ! No joke, it is Wildfox sweater softness and the fact that I can make it a sweater dress or just wear it as a sweater if I want to had me sold. The shape of the sweater as a dress is also super flattering; the batwing sleeves give that oversized look but because it’s fitted at the bottom, it isn’t overwhelming on. This is probably going to be my new go to for days when I don’t really feel like being but want to look slightly put together haha. I love the fact that it has a mock neck as well, because as you can probably tell, I have a thing for turtleneck sweaters. This sweater was also very reasonably priced so I definitely suggest checking it out if you are in the market for a super versatile cozy piece. If grey isn’t your thing either it also comes in a lovely blush colour and a cream as well.

To dress the look up a tiny bit, I decided to throw on my trusty knee high heeled boots (I promise I am getting OTK Boots soon) and this floppy black hat that I felt completed the look perfectly. I love grey black and blush together, there is something so pleasing about that colour palette and I just can’t stop wearing it as you can tell from my last few posts here and here. It’s crazy to me that I am still just as in love with this bag as I was when I first got it a year ago; I just love everything about it and want to pair it with everything, so sorry haha, I am sure you are sick of it ! I feel like it is slightly updated with this blush pom pom bag charm though that I have been absolutely loving- it adds a nice little pop of colour to every look as well which is nice. As you can tell by the boots and bag, I am a creature of obsessions haha, but I am happy to let you know I will also be getting a new bag very soon that I feel you will see for the entirety of spring… it is gorgeous, so keep a look out for that !

Last but not least I threw on some of my favourite midi rings from Aldo, I always feel so glam when I wear them ( they at least are Oscar worthy ) and my rose gold and silver heart ring Jay got for my birthday ages ago. I love the combo of these rings as they just go together so beautifully, I always end up pairing them together over all of my other rings because it is just my favourite !

I hope you enjoyed this casual look and I really hope you look into getting this sweater/ sweater dress (whichever way it would fit you best) I will be sure to do a post wearing it as just a sweater soon so you get another look at how it is styled that way. Also, if you did just want it as a sweater and you are shorter I would suggest just going for the regular version here or even the petite that way the sleeves wouldn’t be as big. I personally don’t mind at all as I like larger sleeves but just a thought ! Either way you need it in your life because it is amazing… I know I say that with everything I post, but I just love every item of clothing I purchase so much which makes sense haha !

Anyways, I will stop rambling now and wrap it up haha. I hope this week is amazing for each and every one of you, thank you so much for stopping by and reading, your support means the world ! Also, did you watch the Oscars ? What did you think of the awards, was there anything you felt was robbed of a title ? I would love to hear ! I thought everything was awarded pretty fairly besides Suicide Squad but that’s just me haha !
