How To Find Your Personal Style

Hello Lovelies !

Today I want to talk about a little something different, some tips and tricks on how to find your personal style. Now I think I have figured out my personal style pretty well by now after lots of trial and error, and let me tell you there has been a lot of error. The thing about fashion and style though, is that it is always changing and evolving and so too does your style. Throughout this journey though your personal style is something that stays pretty consistent because it is the basis of what your style is, what makes you you. So furthermore, here are my top 5 tips for finding your personal style.

Wear What Makes You Feel Comfortable

You are never going to feel as good as when you are wearing something you feel comfortable in. This varies for everyone as well. You may feel the most comfortable wearing jeans and a t-shirt while your friend may feel the most comfortable wearing bodycon dresses, whatever the case, wear what you feel your best in and you will radiate confidence and rock your clothing so much better. Not everyone is going to like everything you wear and that is okay, dress for yourself and if you feel amazing you will look it as well.

Look For Shapes You Know You Look Good In

It is always good to have styles and shapes in your closet that you know look good on you and you don’t have to think about. For me that is skirts, skater style or A line in particular ( as you have probably noticed ). I know that they look good on me and are what I tend to wear the most so when I am shopping that is one thing I always look for more of. It is fun to try out different silhouettes and new styles of course but having things you can always count on makes getting dressed a whole lot easier.

Invest In Staple Pieces

Once you find those key pieces in your closet that you wear day in and day out, it is a good idea to start looking into investing in great quality amazing staple pieces to add into your wardrobe. You know you are going to get a ton of wear out of them and spending a little more insures that you will have it for years to come. Some great pieces that I would definitely recommend investing in are a great bag in a neutral color, a leather jacket, a pair of pants you can wear to death whether that be jeans, leggings or trousers (whatever your style entails), a skirt that suits your body type, a good pair of sturdy boots, heels and flats, a little black dress and some tops you can wear a multitude of ways. Of course there are other things that make up a great closet but it is easy to build on top of amazing pieces that you can wear with everything.

Incorporate Trends Into Your Wardrobe

To make your style always feel current and fresh it is a good idea to throw a few trends into the mix to add to your great staples collection. Now with trends, unless you are head over heels and know you will be wearing this certain thing for years to come, I wouldn’t suggest spending a lot of money on trend pieces because you probably won’t be wearing them for more than a few seasons. Instead it is a good idea to look to the fast fashion stores of the world such as Zara, H&M, ASOS et. to find those key pieces that will be trendy for the upcoming season. This is a good way of building your closet because you can stay trendy without spending an arm and a leg and it allows you to keep your wardrobe up to date a lot easier.

Look For Outfit Inspiration

Last but not least, finding great outfit inspiration is always a great idea for when you feel uninspired with your closet, have no ideas on what to wear, or just want to find different ways of pairing things together. Inspiration is everywhere and taking little notes of things you see and want to try to recreate is a good idea to do for those days when you have no inspiration. You can pull up a photo, open that magazine you tagged or look into your phones notes to be reminded of the things you wanted to try. My personal favorite places to find outfit inspiration are Bloglovin’ of course (my favorite bloggers), Instagram, Pinterest, Magazines, Outside on a busy downtown street or in a mall and on my favorite websites.

I hope that this helped even one of you, style is about so much more than just these things obviously and it takes time to curate what yours is but once you do it expresses so much of who you are. Fashion is a creative outlet that lets you play around with your outward appearance and I love how much fun it is ! Don’t let anyone tell you that you can’t wear something, whatever you want to wear you wear it. Play around, try out new things and just enjoy it.
